The Samadhi of a saint who did meditation in the caves of Hulimavu is the first thing that attracts the attention of devotees at the cave temple in Hulimavu.
The temple also known by the name of Hulimav Shiva Cave Temple is located in Hulimavu on the Bannerghatta Road in the state of Karnataka. The cave temple is administered by Sri Sri Bala Gangadaraswami Mutt.
The Beauty of Caves
Idols of three deities namely a Shiva Lingam, a Devi idol and a Ganesh idol occupy the centre stage in the Hulimavu Cave Temple.A Dhyan mandap located inside the temple complex is another specialty of Hulimavu cave temple. Devotees can be seen meditating in the Dhyan mandap at any given hour of the day.
Various murals and other inscriptions point out that the cave temple is around four to five hundred years old. The cave temple has been cut from a monolithic rock.
